Watch out Flickr, Facebook is out to eat your candies

Facebook is launching its shiny new Photo section, bigger images, better quality and a clear strategy, to take the Photo business to a whole new level even if it has to fight some rivals.

The new Photos section is being implemented and will provide print-quality images with a 8x increase from previous size (from 720px to 2048px), something that will be welcomed for everybody and photographers elsewhere, expect soon a Facebook Print business based on this implementation.

Along with bigger and better images, Facebook Photos has a new Image Viewer that lets your see individual images and albums without jumping from page to page, the new image viewer provides an easier way to tag people and share their photos with friends and families.

The introduction of the revamped Photos section is a needed one, it will cement Facebook advantage in the Social Media business and could put some pressure on Flickr and Picasa, don’t forget that this week Facebookd passed Yahoo and became the second most visited video site on the internet, so Flickr must be on the target list.
